How to Travel to Venice Canals for FREE!

Welcome to Venice Beach, California, a popular tourist attraction, where there are beautiful ocean views and a strip of delicious places to eat. A girl friend and I came here to get some sun and explore. We went on a day that wasn’t too sunny but not too gloomy either. The weather was perfect. A few blocks down from the boardwalk was The Venice Canal Historic District, which is embedded in the residential suburb of Los Angeles.

Venice and Marina Del Rey are neat places to check out with friends or with your favorite date. Lots to do and lots to see. Bring your furry friend with you as well! This no-cost (unless you want to eat) adventure will probably be a couple hours and parking is free on certain streets too. Metered parking is also available nearby. (More details below.)

ADDRESS:

Carroll Ct & Eastern Canal Ct. Venice, CA 90293

PARKING LOTS:
  • 2100 Ocean Front Walk. Venice, Ca 90291.  (End of Venice Blvd. approximately 4 miles from the 405 freeway)
  • 3100 Washington Boulevard, Venice, Ca 90291 (By the Venice Pier)

OR PRIVATE AND STREET PARKING:
Private parking lots can be found near the beach adjacent to Windward Ave. These private lots can cost anywhere between $5-$15 per day. Spots fill quickly, so I recommend coming early.

This area is noteworthy for possessing man-made wetland canals, built in 1905 by developer Abbot Kinney as part of his Venice of America. Be sure to visit this peaceful pathway and take pictures on the bridges that overlook the quiet neighborhood.

I enjoyed looking at all the different types of homes as each one was styled uniquely in its own right. As you exit and make your way back to the city streets, be sure to check out Siamese Garden, a Thai Restaurant, just next door! Thank you for reading and let me know how your trip goes!
